Because everyone is neurologically different, it is not possible to predict with absolute certainty the outcome of training. Your therapist is trained to find the most efficient and effective protocol, and they will inform the client from the start of their own professional opinion. How many sessions are required? Each of us has our own bio, chemical, and electrical make-up. Research has suggested that it takes an average of 20-40 EEG sessions to develop a new neuronal pathway to permanently alleviate symptoms and the ultimate cause. How frequent should the training sessions be given? In the beginning stages of treatment, sessions should be regular and frequent - two, three or even more sessions per week in severe cases. As time passes, the frequency of training may be spread out, but it is recommended to train at least once a week. Why isn’t neurofeedback everywhere? Neurofeedback is a relatively new modality and many physicians may be confusing it with an older related modality called biofeedback. Recent technological advances in computers and in the neurological sciences should change the public’s awareness and knowledge of neurofeedback.
